I use both the 3mm and 4mm crimp covers, depending on which will work better with the design of the piece. I've never had a problem with it being too loose... it's butted up against a bead on one side and the tension from the beading wires coming out the other side opening up to make the loop for the finding hold the crimp bead in place. At least that's been my experience.
