What Kind Of Ribbon To Use For Necklaces?

I am new to the jewelry making world and I just love the pendants and beads on ribbon necklaces.

What type of ribbon is used for this?

I was wondering if it was a certain kind because I tried a sheer ribbon and I could not figure out how to attached the clasp or get the ribbon through the little bead hole.

I am not even sure if the ribbon would be strong enough to hold the bead if I got it on there, either.
