What do I use to make the long necklaces that have a few beads anchored by crimp beads?

I want to make some of those really long necklaces.... single strand that hang down to about your stomach. They are not really heavy, as they just have a few big beads and are often anchored by crimp beads. What kind of wire/chain is used for that? I can't seem to find anything to direct me. What about the wire for the long necklaces that are a bit heavier? I think those are more like chain with beads attached with various jump rings... am I correct?

wire for long necklaces

for quality and price I would give 4 stars for Beadalon wire. It comes in gold, a little pricy, but the silver is inexpensive, and depending on the flexability you want they have a wide variaty, they also have other colors too.

Beadalon

I might be a little later here, just joined and haven't figured the site out yet..but here is what my friend does and she teaches beading at her beads shop.
She uses Beadalon wire, it comes in a few different sizes...I know of a 7 strand and a 49 strand? These are nicer than tigertail beading wire and they come in colours as well. I have gold and purple in my bead box. The bright I would suggest if you are looking for silver colour. It is a really nice looking wire.

chain for long necklaces

just a little comment on the long chain. You know how expensive chain can get for that type of necklace, I watch out for closeout sales in the department stores jewelry section. Recently I found two multi-chain necklaces for little to nothing. Just a thought.

Oops! Missed the second part of the question.

Yes, those are pieces of chain, linked with jumprings or bead links made with eyepins and beads.

The ones with the beads held in place by crimp beads use something called tigertail, or beading wire
