I was observing some hemp necklaces I bought from Florida and I noticed that the little beads and shells they used are strung with some sort of thin wire, perhaps fishing wire. Now I know in your instructions you mention to get large 2mm beads so that the two stringing hemp cords can go through, but they use that wire somehow, and still have the pretty knotting pattern. How do they include the wire like that?

The switch knot is a decorative lacy macrame/ hemp jewelry knot that helps you save on twine too. This tutorial shows you how to tie one with clear pictures and instructions.
A sliding knot is a wonderfully easy way to end off a leather, string, hemp, or corded necklace or bracelet. It looks neat and stylish, is a very practical closure, and is very easy to make.
