Enameled Pennies Bracelet

Enameled Pennies Bracelet

I love the idea of torch firing enamel and had a bunch of (pre 1982)pennies so I decided to try it out on the pennies.

I loved how the first batch of pennies came out - and love working with that size, they are like a miniature canvas - so I kept using pennies to torch fire enamel.

I made a bracelet with shades of turquoise - but used all pennies. I have since branched out - adding beads to the bracelets and started making earrings using the pennies, too.

Torch Fired Enamel Projects and Tutorials
by: Christine Gierer

I just posted some tutorials and projects about torch firing enamels!

Torch Fired Enamel Start Page

The
"how to torch fire enamel beads" page (it looks pretty simple and very very fun.

I am soooo itching to get my hands on some enamels and some time to myself). This is a step by step tutorial by Barbara Lewis, author of Torch Fired Enamels. You'll love this.

The torch fired enamel bracelet project: This step by step project by author Barbara Lewis is really cool even if you don't enamel beads. You can use up some pretty orphan beads in your stash to make this one.

Finally last, but not least, I compiled a few enamel jewelry resources if you want to learn a little more.

Enjoy! ~Christine how-to-make-jewelry.com

Thank you all so much for all the kind comments.

I have a more detailed description of how this is done on my blog mrsbeadsley.blogspot.com - and as far as the melting point of pennies, it's a little over 1900 degrees farenheit.

To be successful when torch firing enamel onto the pennies you have to make sure you use pre 1982 pennies - the pennies mades since 1982 are only clad in copper and are mostly zinc - which will melt all over everything and make a huge mess!

Thanks again for looking and taking the time to comment!

What is the melting point of copper?

And are pennies really made out of solid copper or an alloy?

Tell Me More
by: Lynda

You've definitely got me intrigue by the enameling of pennies. Never heard of this before.

I'd love to hear a little more about the process, please. And the bracelet is just beautiful!

Thanks so much.
