Setting Up "The Books" and Which Jewelry Software

by Debbie
(Kansas City, MO)

I'm in the start-up phase of my jewelry business. How does one set up "the books" and which software is used (Quickbooks?)?

Also, what is the best/standard jewelry software to use for inventory, costs, pricing, etc.?

Jewelry Business Software

There is a great software program called Jewelry Designer Manager. It keeps track of entire loose inventory and components. It also tracks finished pieces using photographs you attach to the file.

It allows you to put in your markup percentages for your different levels of buyers - wholesale, retail, friends, etc. It tracks the components of each piece you make so that you always know if you have enough beads, wire, etc. to make a particular piece. You can learn more about it here:
