Make 3 Strands Lay Smoothly

I made a 3 strand mother's bracelet, as you can see the picture. I also used the 3 strand rod clasp that you have pictured. 2 of the strands want to curl up the clasp and do not lay smoothly. What is wrong? Is it too tight? Did I not stringed it in to the clasp properly?
