Is there a way to unstring fused beaded necklaces?

by Kathy
(NY)

Strung fused beads.

Strung fused beads.

I have these beaded necklaces that look like the thread is baked right into them on the string.

Is there a way these can be unstrung somehow?

Thank you.

Unfuse beads

Place the necklace in boiling water and leave it there for 5 minutes. Use a heat resistant glove on one hand and a needle nose pliers in the other hand. You may have to re-immerse the necklace after 3-4 minutes to remove more of the beads. You might want to consider run the beads on the cord thereby increasing the hole before completely removing the bead.
