Iridescent metallic-finished snake (?) chain.

by Odelle
(NC)

I work in a jewelry store and today a customer came in wearing a dark metallic snake (I think) chain with a lustrous almost metallic finish.

Of course, she wouldn't tell me where she'd gotten it and all of my web searches are drawing blanks.

I don't even know what to call such a thing. I usually dislike snake chains but this was quite lovely.

Does anyone know what it is and where to find them?

Was it a black rhodium finish maybe?

Niobium?

I wondered about that. This snake chain looked as though it had be rolled in black diamond dust and it was quite spectacular.

Dark and neutral and by far the best-looking 'snake' chain I've ever seen!

Niobium

It could have been made from niobium.

It's treated in a "salt bath" and exposed to electricity and it changes colors.

It's not cheap and you can't fuse it. It has to be "welded".
