How to Make the Right Necklace Length

by Brigid
(San Antonio, Texas USA)

I'm making a necklace for my brother and need a little help on finding the length of the twine.

It's for a crucifix he got for confirmation but he doesn't want it to be 'girly'. So his necklace is going to be longer than the listed lengths on this website.

I measured, and the length my brother wants is 27 1/4 inches.

For a 20 inch necklace I would need 2-ten foot pieces of twine. How much longer of a piece would I need for the length specified above?
