Tools for making the earrings
(number corresponds to tool picture numbers)

  • 1 - Chain-nosed pliers
  • 2 - Flush cutters
  • 3 - Center punch (or a big nail)
  • 4 - Permanent marker
  • 5 - Chasing Hammer (or regular household hammer)
  • 6 - Round-nosed pliers
  • Flex-shaft tool or small power drill with a drill press attachment -not shown
  • Jewelers drill bits (0.8mm size)-not shown
  • 7 - Anvil or steel block
  • 8 - Ultra fine steel wool #0000
  • 9 and 10 - files and filing sticks (optional)

For optional handmade balled headpins:

  • Butane, propane, or oxy-acetylene torch
  • pliers

For optional patina:

  • liver of sulphur
  • glass bowl
  • chopstick or plastic tongs
  • rubber gloves

  • 22 gauge sterling silver wire
  • 2 sterling leverback ear wires
  • 2 balled silver headpins (handmade or store-bought)
  • 2 8mm sterling silver disc charms
  • 2 tumbled garnet beads
