I am teaching myself how to make jewelry and I need to know how to attach a clasp to my finished product.

Attaching a Clasp to Necklace Wire

There are a number of ways to attach a clasp to a necklace. I'm not clear on what kind of necklace. The type of necklace is really what dictates which options are available to you. If you could attach a photo it would really help!

Without a photo, here are some options:

You could use a jump ring or split ring. A split ring is more secure if the necklace is dainty (and hence you need a smaller jump ring). A jump ring is a small circle of wire. A split wire is more like the rings on car keys where there is more than one loop of wire.

You could use crimps. If you are talking about a necklace of strung beads this is what you need. There is a crimping tutorial here.

Another option is to make a wrapped loop link out of wire. Here's a wrapped loop tutorial

There's a number of other ways too, but that will get you started.
