If you are putting the knots too tight it will twist. It will also twist if you DON'T double knot it!
So remember to keep it from twisting Double knot and loosen the knots; don't make them so tight.

I would try to double each piece of string then it won't twist. I had the exact same problem, but not anymore.

Alternatives To Double Knotting by: Danica
I did try the double knotting technique, but found I actually preferred doing single knots. This made the bracelet twist, but that can easily be fixed by either ironing the bracelet (Which is what I do) or dampening it in warm water and pinning it flat against a surface until it dries.
I recommend ironing though. The water technique can take a while and there isn't always a guarantee it'll work properly.
Also, you don't have to pin it flat, so no threads will be loosened. :)

I used to have the same problem.
It's definitely true that you have to double knot them. Each time that you make a knot, do an identical one right on top to keep it secure.
It's also helpful to pull a little more loosely, or,if there are gaps, pull a little bit tighter. If this is your problem, then it'll take some experimenting to get the tension just right. But with practice and effort, you'll get it :)

Stop Candy Stripe Twisting by: Anonymous
You have to make DOUBLE knots and then it will stop twisting :)
The switch knot is a decorative lacy macrame/ hemp jewelry knot that helps you save on twine too. This tutorial shows you how to tie one with clear pictures and instructions.
A sliding knot is a wonderfully easy way to end off a leather, string, hemp, or corded necklace or bracelet. It looks neat and stylish, is a very practical closure, and is very easy to make.
