Average Bracelet Sizes

Help for a first time jewelry maker!

I would like to start selling my bracelets. I also want to make many at one time. What size should I make them?

I need average sizes for bracelets with clasps and just stretchy elastic bracelets.

I would like to know so that I don't waste my time custom making everything!!!

For women you will cover most bases if you make them from 6 inches to 8 inches by half inch increments. I make a lot of chain maille bracelets so I tend to make them bigger because I can always adjust on the spot.

Men's bracelets run from about 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 inches and again a make a few a bit bigger.

One thing to keep in mind though is the flat measurement is not necessarily the actual size in a chunky bracelet. The chunkier the bracelet the longer it needs to be to go around the same size wrist.

The national average circumference size for wrists is 6", and stretch bracelets can be set at 5" for the inside circumference to fit snuggly but also comfortably.

When it comes to non-stretch bracelets, make your average inside circumference at least 6.5" to 7" to give the person 1" of play should they be smaller or bigger boned, plus some play to do up the clasp one handed unless you chose to smartly put magnets on both ends for easy fastening one handed.

Keep in mind you might want to build in some extra play should someone of average size decide they like a bit more dangle if the bracelet is delicate.

Extra jump rings at one end for a plain lobster claw to be adjusted up and down the length will work nicely.
