Anchoring beading wire to a neck wire

by Kelle

I am attempting to use a neck wire to create a necklace.

I strung seed beads on super thin wire, and then wrapped the string around the neck wire. However, I can't get the beaded wire to stay in place. I tried wrapping the ends of the wire around the hook part of the neck wire, but it keeps sliding down. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to keep it in place?

You may want to tightly coil some of the same colored wire to the top section of your existing neck wire, 3 or 4 loops at most. Then take your bead wire and crimp it above the coiled wire so that it will remain in place. Hopefully this will work.

Can you post a picture so we can see what you're working with? Then perhaps someone can help:) Right now without seeing your piece, I'm thinking your base wire is too thin, you need a thicker gauge wire...looking forward to seeing your piece so we can help better:)
